These garnets were collected in the Ruby Valley area of Montana. Once collected by a method called screening (a similar process used in mining sapphires), they were tumbled making them very shinny and translucent. Selected large clear crystals are faceted into beautiful gemstones. Garnet minerals are very hard making them ideal for use in jewelry.
