My description of this type of glass which, because of its age, can be found around old homestead sites. This glass was only produced during the middle and late 1800s. The active ingredient which, with the sun caused clear glass to turn purple, was manganese. After 1915 the use of manganese was discontinued. The glass can be faceted and cabed.
