Herkimer Diamond is the name given to the very high quality crystal quartz found around Herkimer, New York. Faceted Herkimers yield beautiful gemstones which are almost like real diamond in appearance. Breaking away the host rock which contains the crystals is a real task, the host rock is extremely hard.
