Some refer to these little fossils as ant money.  They are typically found in ant hills in the Western United States and can be found in this color, reds, and blues.  The monetary amounts are $1's, $5"s and $10's.  The ant hill with lots of blues is a wealthy colony. Micropaleontologists identify these tiny calcium carbonate fossils from the Jurassic period to present as coccoliths.
